About

The 12 Springs Devotional is founded in faith that God always keeps His promises. It owes its name to Exodus 15:27 and the story around it:

“Then they came to Elim, where there were twelve springs of water and seventy palm trees, and they encamped there by the water.”       ~Exodus 15:27

Though this verse may not seem particularly significant at first glance, it is the events that led up to it that make it so special. Moses and the Israelites had just seen the 10 horrific plagues rain down on the Egyptians, while they had been delivered from suffering. They had been led by God out of Egypt, crossed the Red Sea by His grace, and witnessed the bitter waters of Marah turned sweet. God promised to give them safe passage out of Egypt, and to provide them with all they needed. Even though God patiently guided them and delivered on every promise, the Israelites still doubted Him at the slightest tribulation as they wandered in the wilderness. When they arrived in Elim to find 12 springs of water and seventy palm trees waiting for them they were reminded of God’s constancy. The oasis stands as a beautiful example of God’s faithfulness. The Lord had prepared 12 springs to drink from, one for each of the 12 tribes of Israel, so that not even one was left to go thirsty. The 12 springs of Elim were a living example of God’s love and devotion to always providing for every last one of His children and never failing to keep His promises. The 12 Springs Devotional is here to remind us that even though we may doubt Him or grumble against Him, God is with us and always keeps His promises.
