We are Confident Because: we are special to Him

At times of struggling in life, we can begin to wonder if God made a mistake when making us, or perhaps wasn’t really paying attention when He planned out our every step of life. Becoming acutely aware of our struggles, shortcomings, flaws, or disabilities, our mind can begin to lead us away from trust in God, and into thoughts of doubt and discontent. In our insecurity, we look at only our inadequacies and the difficulties of our life, and question whether God really cares about us or where we are going in life. In this frame of mind, our confidence slips, feeling unimportant to our Father, and we hyper focus on ourselves and our problems. But the flaw with this viewpoint is that it fails to take God’s constancy and love into account. When we make ourselves the center of our attentions, instead of our Lord, we will always begin to wander from God, because we are designed innately to praise and trust our Father. We are all imperfect, and more importantly, God loves us completely, flaws and all. He made us for a reason and a purpose, to live a life serving Him and carrying out a role that only we can carry out. He did not simply throw us together thoughtlessly. Instead, He carefully formed us step by step, and breathed His holy life into us. We are the creation of the most powerful and perfect being in existence, cherished by Him for all time. He calls us His masterpiece, not simply an afterthought or a fluke of chance. Though we may have disabilities and flaws woven into our bodies, He did not make mistakes but rather made us unique for a life that will glorify Him and make us His special child, to lead a life that no one else could lead. While our flaws may give us challenges, He has given us them because He knows only we can handle them the way He intended, and He gives them to us for our blessing and benefit. We were special to Him before we were even born, and He treasures every last hair on our head. He eagerly anticipates our walk with Him through life, unlike any other, to grow in Him and have a special relationship that He will have with no other in quite the same way. When we make God our focus, trusting in Him and His love, rather than focusing our attentions on the imperfections of ourselves and our lives, we have confidence and comfort knowing that we are special to our Father, and made perfectly for His carefully chosen purpose.
