When we worry over the uncertainties of life, it can be easy to slowly lose our confidence as we work ourselves into a dither over all the things that could possibly go wrong in our future. We can find ourselves wondering if a family member’s health will decline, if we will be able to keep our job, if our finances will weather the storm of an unexpected catastrophe. With every potential train wreck swirling in our minds, we think in worst-case scenarios, and our confidence gradually slips away as our thoughts spiral into fear and insecurity. Bogged down in a worrisome mire of our own making, we need only raise our voices and bow our heads in prayer, reminding ourselves that the more we trust in our Father, the less we have to worry about and the more confident we can become. He hears us and lifts us up, providing all that we need every day. Though we may have no confidence in ourselves or our abilities to provide for every situation, we do not need to think in these terms, and we can have full confidence in His loving desire and infinite ability to sustain us day and night. He delights in blessing us, and can miraculously provide in the direst of circumstances. When we are in a desert, He will bring forth water, and when we are at our hungriest, He can fill our mouths with food fit for angels. Our Father withholds nothing from His most treasured possession, not even the life and shed blood of His only Son. If He pours out such a precious gift without hesitation, we certainly need not worry about the smaller things in life. With assurance and joy, we can praise Him endlessly in His unfailing generosity to not only give, but give in abundance. Our loving Father is eager to open His hands to us if we open our hearts. As we depend on our Father, placing our confidence in Him, He will show us time and again that our confidence is well placed.
