We are Confident Because: He will love us unconditionally forever

When we have made mistakes, all too aware of our weaknesses and imperfections, it can be difficult to feel confident as Christians and as individuals. We may feel especially self-conscious when others judge us for the choices we have made, and the colorful background we may have. We try each day to break bad habits and stay faithful to our Father, but we are innately sinful and we are only human, so mistakes, setbacks, and stumbles are inevitably woven in to the fabric of the patchwork quilt that is our spiritual life. When others raise eyebrows at our setbacks, instead of supporting us and encouraging us with love, we may feel broken, and we can begin to lose confidence rapidly when others falsely appear to easily sail through life while we seem to run into spiritual battles constantly. But, in these times of insecurity, we must remember that while our confidence falters, the Lord’s boundless love for us never waivers. In spite of all our sinfulness and flawed nature, He loves us today as much as He did yesterday and as much as He will tomorrow and every day for eternity. Though we make mistakes, and our foot may slip, His love does not fail us. As we meditate on this glorious love, we pray that He will open our eyes and mind to understand just a sliver of this miraculous and perfect love. We pray that He will help us to ground ourselves in this love so that we may grasp His infinite, endless, faithful love, and find our true confidence through this comfort and knowledge. Filling our souls with His love, we are reminded of His faithful support, sustaining us spiritually and physically today and every day. Though we fail to deserve His glory, He embraces us as His children, defending us with love, and never failing to remember us when we need Him most. When we stumble, He picks us up, expecting nothing in return, and He waits patiently to take our hand again to lead us on, protecting us from our own folly. His enduring love never disappoints, and we can never praise Him too much. His flawless compassionate adoration remains unceasing and unconditional, no matter how much we fall far short of what He deserves in return for such a gift. As we cling to Him like a child, He builds us up, replenishing our souls. Confidence based on such dependable, deep, and steadfast love is surely better founded than confidence based upon any other worldly source. No matter how we falter or trip on our own flaws, we can allow our Father to help us back up and walk on confidently knowing that He absolutely loves us no matter what, and that nothing in this world or in eternity can separate us from His loving arms or His support. Though we may fail ourselves, He will never fail us, and He delights in our child-like faith and confidence in Him and His helping hands.

“When I said, ‘My foot is slipping,’ your unfailing love, Lord, supported me.” Psalm 94:18 niv

“so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith—that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth,  and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.” Ephesians 3:17-19 esv

He remembered us in our weakness. His faithful love endures forever. He saved us from our enemies. His faithful love endures forever.Psalm 136:23-24 nlt

For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 8:38-39 esv

“for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,” Romans 3:23 esv
